Getting Hooked on Music
I discovered music in high school. Playing my drums every day made me feel good and I just wanted to learn more. My interest in music motivated me to study music education so that I could help other kids find a positive outlet and a way to express themselves like I did.
Classroom Teaching
Teaching music in the Seattle Public Schools opened my eyes to the many ways children learn. I discovered how to adapt my teaching to fit different learning styles and I recognized how technology can help engage students. I've been experimenting with better ways of teaching music ever since.
Dynabuddy: A Video-Powered Solution
In 2018 I made some play-along videos for my students and the results were amazing. Students practiced more, progressed faster, and had more fun. Inspired by this success, I envisioned a platform like Dynabuddy - a resource filled with innovative online videos that make learning to play music easier and more accessible for everyone.
